Router Table Spring Board
I saw this device in an old woodworking book. I gave it a try and now I use it all the time. With this spring board you get even pressure along the entire fence and better results than either hand feeding or just featherboards. I still use a featherboard on the top to provide some anti-kickback protection.

My Take
This really is slick. The thing I like about it that's not mentioned in the text above, is the fact that you can make the thing any length or width. This makes it easier to clamp to your table than a typical featherboard. The dimensions of the board shown are 1" x 7" x 24". The spacers are 1/8" thick. The two end spacers are 2" long, and the middle spacer is 4" long. The two spring boards are 1" x 1". All you need to do is glue them to the spacers. Note that the ends of the outer spring board have a shallow chamfer so the workpiece easily slides in between it and the fence.
