Double-Duty Sanding Drum

I sand a lot of thin wood on my drum sander and as a result, I only wear out the bottom part of the drums. Flipping them over allows me to use the top but the middle remains unused. Call me a cheapskate, but I hate throwing away anything that's still usable! Here's my frugal solution: Cut the sanding drum in half and flip the parts end for end.

My Take

Now that's thrifty. I love it! I've never tried this, but I will now. My only fear is that the upper half of the sleeve might slip. Anybody tried this?
