photoI’ll cut right to the chase: I’m giving away a free copy of the four-volume set of “The Practical Woodworker” (a must-have foundation set of books for the woodworker interested in early 20th-century woodworking techniques, edited by Bernard Jones.
And I mean free – no shipping costs, no free trials, no nothing – just an awesome collection of books.
Why? We always try to work ahead, and I am seeking submissions for our “End Grain” column featured in each issue.

End Grain is typically a thought-provoking or amusing one-page article (500 words or so) that reflects on any aspect of woodworking. Unique topics or treatments are especially welcome. It’s a great way to break into print (and digital).

And the best End Grain submission (as determined by the editorial staff) received by midnight Dec. 31, 2014, will win the books. (Not to mention that the writer of any End Grain column we accept for publication will be paid with real money. Cold hard, uh, checks.)

Send your End Grain submissions to Mike.Wallace@fwcommunity.com, with the words “end grain” somewhere in the subject line.

You can also mail submissions to:
