Precise marks are one key to accurate cuts. Rather than mounting pencil sharpeners all around the shop, I just stick 120-grit PSA-backed sandpaper wherever I need a sharp pencil; at both ends of my workbench, right next to my miter saw, on top of my tablesaw’s rip fence, etc.
