This is a model of the saw vises used in Mike Wenzloff’s saw sharpening class at the Woodworking in America Conference in Berea, Kentucky in November 2008. Two F-style clamps were used to hold the vise to a bench, and a third clamp was used to secure the jaws to the saw blade. If the jaws don’t grip securely, plane a slight hollow from end to end of the jaw, and/or bevel the inside of the jaw so that the jaws meet at the top.
