I try to use every square inch of space in my shop, so I made a storage rack for my turning tools that swings out when I need it. When I’m done turning, it swings back, completely out of the way. Two 5-in. strap hinges mount the rack to a 3/4-in. x 8-in. x 24-in. piece of plywood that’s screwed to the wall. Plastic shields on the front and sides guard my hands and protect the tools while leaving them easy to identify. The bottom is open, so wood shavings fall right through.
