I can’t remember – which is a pretty good indication that in fact we were. Or perhaps I’m just getting old.

We used to have a cardboard cutout of Bob Vila, and I do remember Christopher Schwarz stashing him in one of the women’s restroom stalls during a Lie-Nielsen show – because I walked in, opened the stall door and screamed. That sort of thing sticks with a person.

I don’t know what happened to Vila in the move to our new office and shop; I’ve not seen him in years. But now, thanks to my travels into our past, I’ll always have the August 2009 cover shoot by which to remember him. The actual cover, with Glen D. Huey’s Pennsylvania blanket chests, is above.
