As the new online community editor, I would like to introduce myself to you.  I grew up in Cincinnati, but after extended stays in Columbus, Ohio (Go Bucks!) and Providence, R.I., I have returned to my hometown with a lot of excitement.

I am a self-taught woodworker in that I scoured libraries and woodworking magazines for techniques, design ideas and new tool reviews. I use both hand tools and power tools with equanimity – I’ll use whatever will get the job done quickest with the most precision. My aesthetic leans toward the simple lines of the Japanese and Shakers.

In the interest of full disclosure, when cutting dovetails, I saw tails first because I can do twice the work in the same amount of time by cutting two boards at once. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Welcome mighty Ajax! So glad to have a new voice in this wonderful online community. It sounds like you will fit right in with the staff in that your style is nothing like the rest of them and you have different viewpoints more than likely. I’m excited to here more from you.

Sorry bout the might Ajax comment, I’m sure you are tired of “Iliad” references by now but he was always my favorite character in that book. How about: how cool is it that the web guy is named Ajax? Sorry again, stupid programming humor.

I look forward to what you have to share with us.

I love this magazine largely because it creates the comfortable illusion of being part of a really great group of friends who share the same interests. Of course its one sided, because we tend to know you, but you can’t really know all of us. Still, the staff at Popular Woodworking make me feel like I am part of this bully group of friends—part Wise Men, and part Wise Guys (Megan included).

Best wishes as you join your new colleagues.

    WOW….just read the recent newslettter.

Meaghan wrote: “…those pieces made his application stand out because of their contemporary and sculptural aesthetic – a formerly missing style on our team.”

What a great statement that lends itself to wondering what’s next.

Congratulations, Mr Alexandre very excited to see what future PopWood issues hold.

    Wonderful!!

    Welcome Ajax!
I’m sure you’ll fit in well with Glen, Christopher, Meghan and the rest of the gang. It’s great that someone is taking a little bit of the load off of Glen and Christopher so that I can be Glen’s ear for some upcoming stuff, and so that Chris can do more of what he does best (writing about hand tool ww’ing).
