Andrew Zoellner and I wrote about our traveling tool cases in the December 2018 issue of Popular Woodworking. The step-by-step photos show my take on the build, spalted maple, my No.5 and No.4 hand planes and various other tools. The case can be configured in a lot of different ways and I was hoping that readers would take it upon themselves to sort out what worked best for them. I recently received an email from Mr. Bill Childs about his build, it is an outstanding modification of the lid, it seems perfect for his use!
“I was looking for a tool tote to set beside my shave horse when doing demos with the SCA East Kingdom Foresters Guild. I attached the cover with hinges and added tool slots for use when working. Chisels store in till when traveling.” –Bill Childs
