Classic Tools Made by Hand (Yours!) Follow toolmaker Isaac Smith as he shows the steps for building two classic frame saws. The Roubo saw can be used for cutting shop-made veneers and sawing larger boards – and appeals to dedicated hand-tool woodworkers. The smaller frame saw is used for joinery, cross-cutting and different types of rip cuts.

You’ll learn:

  • To shape, round over and chamfer the saw pieces using primarily hand tools
  • How to use gauges to lay out tenons
  • The technique for making bridal joints
  • How to string and tension the saw with a whorl and toggle
  • The steps to assemble both saws and the proper techniques for using them

And much more! Both saws will be welcome and practical additions to your shop.
