closedI spent a good part of the summer designing and building this simple looking cabinet, the cover project for the December 2013 issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine. The issue should be on its way to subscribers in a week or two, and available on newsstands shortly after that.

The cabinet hangs on the wall, is about 2′ wide and 30″ tall. The outside is solid maple, dovetailed together and the front is a single door. It isn’t light – but I built it like a tank because it holds a lot of weight. Inside there is a lot going on, because it is designed to hold a full complement of tools within easy reach. I think it’s the kind of tool chest any woodworker would like to have, and in a few weeks, you can have a chance to own this very cabinet.

Bob's-Tool-ChestMy new tool chest is the grand prize in our 31 Days of Christmas Sweepstakes. The contest opens for entries on December 1 and runs until December 31. There is a daily prize and all entries from the first 30 days will be eligible for the grand prize; the tool cabinet and a $1,000 Lee Valley Tools gift certificate. (Tools and aging woodworker shown in the photo not included).

Details about construction of the cabinet and the daily prizes are in the December issue, and our web people tell me that the information will soon appear on the 31 Days of Christmas Sweepstakes page. Entries don’t open until December 1, but you can sign up now and get an e-mail reminder.

Glad you are giving it away. Anyone who makes such a nice tool chest and then puts a cordless drill in it is not deserving of it.. 🙂

Not completely fixed. The title on the home page( under Editors Blogs) is still missing the ‘r’. 🙂

    Shouldn’t it be Grand prize?
    I think an R is missing 🙂
Apart from that it is a beautiful cabinet.
