Black & Decker’s new 8V MAX* Impact Screwdriver

Black & Decker’s new 8V Max* Impact Screwdriver will make a powerful impact this fall, boasting up to 10X more speed+ and 2X max torque++.

The top two complaints involving screwdrivers are speed and power. Black & Decker is bringing true power and innovation to the screwdriving category with the 8V MAX* Impact Screwdriver, a unique tool that provides superior speed and torque for improved performance during screwdriving and fastening applications.

Most traditional pistol grip 4V cordless screwdrivers on the market provide 200 RPM (revolutions per minute). With a speed of 2,200 rpm, the new 8V Max* Impact Screwdriver drives select screws with up to10X more speed. With its high speeds, the new Impact Screwdriver is particularly handy when tackling big jobs with lots of screwdriving such as removing and replacing kitchen cabinet hardware or assembling furniture.

Most cordless screwdriver speeds are very slow, with an average speed of 200 RPM. The new Impact Screwdriver speed can be almost 10X faster. When driving a light-duty fastener, the Black & Decker Impact Screwdriver will operate like a traditional cordless screwdriver; however, when the Impact Screwdriver encounters higher opposing torque, such as when driving a larger or longer fastener, an impact mechanism is activated and the tool applies a rapid series of rotary impulses (beats per minute). The quick impacts of the mechanism deliver more torque to help drive the fastener faster.

Another advantage is that the Impact Screwdriver is non-reactionary. When encountering resistive torque other screwdrivers stall and twist in your hands. The Black & Decker Impact Screwdriver will not. Also, you do not need to apply much force to keep the bit engaged with the fastener head.

The Impact Screwdriver’s compact, lightweight design makes it easy to drive and remove screws in hard-to-reach areas. The motor and transmission generate 125 inch-pounds of max torque, while the variable speed trigger delivers 0-2,200 rotations-per-minute (RPM) delivering improved performance during large and small fastening applications. The variable speeds let you make quick adjustments in screwdriving speed to optimize power for the most common DIY screwdriving tasks.

The new Impact Screwdriver is the perfect tool for driving screws during various applications from assembling furniture to installing wire shelves. An L.E.D. light illuminates dark work areas. An impact mechanism helps prevent stripped screws while the variable speed provides increased control when starting bits**. Impact Screwdriver includes a 1/4” hex chuck for secure bit retention.
The 8V MAX* Impact Screwdriver joins Black & Decker’s expanding lineup of Lithium products, including the existing range of drill/drivers, the innovative GYRO™ Motion Activated screwdriver and Black & Decker’s extensive Lithium outdoor lineup. With lithium ion battery technology, this Impact Screwdriver holds a charge up to 18 months, so it’s ready when you are.

The Black & Decker 8V MAX* Impact Screwdriver is sold with an integral battery, jack plug charger, and PH#2 screwdriving bit.
