Attention all digital subscribers:

When your e-mail to download the issue arrives (which should be later today or early tomorrow), you’ll have the option for two versions. One has a video embedded in “12 Rules for Tool Chests” – simply click on the opening photo, and you’ll see the author, Contributing Editor Christopher Schwarz, show you how he uses his tool chest to easily access all of his tools with just one hand movement.

This “video-embedded” version will work with Adobe Reader 9.0 and later – but it will NOT work as intended on an iPad. (If you view it on an iPad, you’ll be able to read all the text and see all the pictures, but the video won’t play. Instead, you’ll have to click through the video link in “Online Extras” to see the free video via our YouTube channel – you know, the old-fashioned way. One of these days I WILL figure out how to embed video in an iPad version…but for the nonce, it has me defeated.)

The “iPad version” works with Adobe Reader 7.0 and later – but no embedded video (but of course, you can click through to all online extras, as long as you’re connected to the Internet).

You are welcome to download either or both versions. (Note that if you buy the December digital issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine in our online store, you’ll have the same options.)

After you see the issue, please let us know what you think (what I really want to know is, do I need to hurry up and learn HTML 5?).

Thanks!

— Megan Fitzpatrick

Megan, have the digital subscripts been emailed out? I haven’t received the email yet. Last issue I was missed and had to have it sent again. Did I get missed again?

Please, please, please stick to distributing in the PDF format. I have a mag subscription using Zinio, and I hate it.If I could get them to pay attention to me, I would cancel it and go back to paper. Your PDF format allows me much more flexibility in reading and utilizing the mag. Yes, it also allows me to share copies – something I refuse to do; but, it also allows me to keep my own library of the mag on an SD card where I can look up something easily and from several devices and locations. You’re the best out there. Keep up the good work.

I would be Interested in subscribing if the digital version worked with iPad. Have you considered zinio? Not a subscriber yet but might just download this coming issue.

I was talking to a fellow woodworker the other day, about which woodworking magazines were moving the right direction, regarding New Media. We both felt Popular Woodworking Magazine was doing the best.

Keep up the good work and keep moving forward.
