This is where it all begins. Hand tools have been a staple of early and modern society for centuries, so that’s where master woodwright Roy Underhill begins his highly acclaimed and endearing PBS show in this, the first episode of the The Woodwright's Shop. To start off the series, Roy shows how to make two traditional tools – a maul and glut (wood splitting wedge) starting by felling the tree and then working the tools into shape with traditional iron woodworking tools.
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
