Axiom 3D

When Todd Damon (owner of Axiom Tool Group, Inc.) and I met to talk about our video series on CNC machinery there was one comment he made that stuck with me. He said his company had approached CNC differently than others. They were experienced woodworkers who decided to build CNC machinery to accent and enhance woodworking. I liked that approach. Much of woodworking tool “innovation” seems to be adapting tools from other disciplines to woodworking. Heck, drill presses are still metal-working machines adapted for wood. So the idea of approaching the tool creation from the needs of a woodworker was attractive.

I’ve admitted that I’ve been skeptical of the benefits of CNC for the enthusiast woodworker (for professionals, there’s not a doubt of the benefits), but as we created the video series I guess I caught the bug. There’s a huge cool factor, and watching even some of the capabilities got my mind churning with ideas that I would enjoy putting to work.

I’m happy to announce the launch of the series today. I hope you’ll become impressed and inspired by what you see. A short preview below will give you a taste, and this link will take you to the page where the videos are being posted. Enjoy, and let us know your thoughts!
