WIA, PWM & More: A Video Chat With Al Navas

Al Navas, the owner of Sandal Woods Fine Woodworking (that’s his jewelry box with inlaid dovetails you see at left), invited the editors and publisher of Popular Woodworking Magazine to a Google+ Hangout session yesterday – the third in his “Woodworking Editors, Authors and Bloggers” series. Kevin Ireland, publisher, Matthew Teague, editor, Robert Lang, executive editor, Steve Shanesy, senior editor and I (the managing editor/resident cat rancher), chatted with Al for an hour or so about Woodworking in America, and the direction of the magazine. Don’t worry; we’re still firmly committed to hybrid woodworking – that is, bringing you the best information about hand tools and power tools, and how to use both efficiently and effectively in your shop.

We’ve embedded the video below for your viewing pleasure (with a terrible screen grab…one of these days, I’ll figure out how to change that!).

I thought it went very well.

Had a professor, very old school and very German, in engineering school. He was a dead-eye with erasers and chalk at upward of 50 feet. “Zer vill be no schleeping in lekture!”

Sorry – students in my comp classes often say my voice puts them to sleep…right after I’ve winged an eraser at the culprits to wake them up ;-)
