I took a slightly different tack after my minor vent – I used one of the Customer Service links on the site and vented to them as well (them being the subscriber service folks). After a couple of rounds of e-mail, I apparently now have the digital edition added to my account for free, at least until my current subscription term runs out sometime in 2014. Coincidentally, I got the link to the PDF of the 200th issue the same day my mail copy arrived.

Once again a happy camper!

I’m late to the party on this one, but a swift kick to the behind of the “powers that be” might be in order. Your pricing model is a bit…well…lacking. Right now, I have dead-tree subscriptions to PWW, FW, and Sports Illustrated. Of those three, PWW is the only one that doesn’t offer their digital version included with a print subscription. I just checked, and American Woodworker offers digital with their print subscription, with a discount for digital only.

Last time I looked, you guys were asking for a ~40-50% premium above the print subscription cost to add digital on. Not a good value for shuffling some data through the tubes. I’d just find the PDF on a “site of ill repute” instead, or abuse the scanner/copier at work that will deliver a PDF into my email.

How about embargoing the electronic version until the print versions are mailed? Letting us (print subscribers) know that the electronic version is now available is just teasing.

Here’s the answer I received from customer service:

“We have the digital subscription FAQ page now. http://www.popularwoodworking.com/digitalsubscription-faq

If they click on ‘When does my subscription Expire?” it will take them to this page: http://www.popularwoodworking.com/customerservice
From there they should pick the option “View your subscription information.” They probably won’t know their account number but if them click on the ENTER SUBSCRIBER SERVICES button it will step them through so they can access their subscription details.”

I haven’t seen the link either. Can’t remember getting a renewal notice either. Maybe there are some issues as this is the first time the digital subscriptions must be renewed?
