Remember my blog entry about the Stanley No. 47 bit gauge? It is, hands down, the best depth gauge for auger bits.
I purchased one for $17.50 years ago. After I blogged about it, well, you know the rest. The price went up.
Recently Megan Fitzpatrick purchased one, and through a series of wacky misadventures, she ended up with two No, 47s. Though Megan loves boring, she does not need two bit gauges.
But she does need a new sink for her kitchen.
And so we are selling this one – it’s unused and in the original packaging – here on the blog. And because we want to add real content – not just sell you something – we had Megan pose with the item, as shown above.

Yes – a tad unprofessional, but Ms. Fitzpatrick is an adult, I would assume consenting, and has in someway, acquiesced to the sexism.
Hey Guys, How about treating Megan like the Pro that she is, and cut the sexism. In this day and age, this is totally inappropriate. Megan has proven herself as a valued member of your staff, in my estimation, and should not be treated as a “sex” object, and Megan, if I were you, I would put my foot down on stunts like this, and think of all the negative publicity that it causes for the women that are trying to show that they can hold their own in the woodworking industry!
What are you talking about? All they are trying to do is to sell a Stanley bit gauge. And have a bit of fun while doing it.
Not everything has to be a Serious Discussion by Serious People. We get enough of that from the blowhards out of Washington DC. Look where that’s gotten us.
And sometimes a bit gauge is just a bit gauge.
And I recall a “sultry pose” (his words not mine) struck by an open shirted Chris Schwarz posted on a forum a while back. LOML commented that with pictures like that she might consider looking at my woodworking stuff more often… then she laughed and said, “no, not really”

I’m always looking for tools I don’t have. After seeing the picture, for some reason I can’t get my mind off this one. I’ll bid $40.50 for the depth gauge.
I don’t think that is how the depth gauge is used?
