  • Don’t Forget About Sindelar’s Event This Weekend

Quick reminder: I’ll be in southwest Michigan this Saturday (June 4) giving demonstrations and generally mopping up the drool in my vicinity at the open house of tool collector John Sindelar.

Sindelar is going to open crates of tools that haven’t seen the light of day in decades. And his tool museum is outrageous. Words just don’t do it justice. Yeah, you might have seen Sindelar’s traveling museum at Woodworking in America in 2010, but that only scratched the surface of his immense and cool collection. Plow plane made of ivory? Check. Multiple panther saws? Check. Wheelbarrow filled with desirable plow planes? Check check.

And then I’ll be there building some English Layout Squares using hand tools. So please stop by and say hello. With all the amazing tools about, I imagine I’ll be pretty lonely. But I have a plan to go to Kalamazoo after the event and drown my sorrows in a beer (yeah right, I used the singular “beer”) at Bell’s.

You mentioned previously that “Sindelar is going to open crates of tools that haven’t seen the light of day in decades.” Are you going to expand on that? Where did they come from? Why haven’t they been opened in decades? Inquiring minds want to know.
