The entry period is April 1-June 20.
Winning work will be featured in the November 2014 issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine.
The Grand-Prize includes an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2015 Woodworking in America Conference* and a $100 gift certificate to ShopWoodworking.com. Each Editors’ Choice winner and the Readers’ Choice entry with the highest number of votes overall wins a $100 gift certificate to ShopWoodworking.com.
* Up to a $1,500 value; no prize substitutions
You can enter your work for consideration in five categories: Casework, Cabinets & Bookcases; Seating; Tables; Boxes & Smalls; Turnings, Carvings & Objet d’Art.
The judges will choose a winner in each of the five categories and a Grand Prize winner – and you’ll choose the Readers’ Favorite winner by online voting.
All winners will be announced at the Woodworking in America 2014 Banquet (need not be present to win). The grand-prize winner and category winners will be selected by the editors and contributing editors to Popular Woodworking Magazine.
We invite you to submit your best work in one (or more) of the following:*
|Casework, Cabinets &|
|Boxes & Smalls||Turnings, Carvings|
& Objet d’Art
* PWM reserves the right to re-categorize entries as appropriate
The competition is open to all woodworkers, both amateur and professional.
All entries must have been built in the last five years and may not have been featured in any other mass-market woodworking publications or associated web sites.
No entry fee is required to submit projects for consideration. Costs for preparing and submitting the entry are the responsibility of the entrant.
Up to five (5) projects may be entered by one entrant. Each project entry requires a separate completed entry form.
Submit up to four digital photos of each project, including at least two overall “beauty” shots taken from different angles, that are suitable for publication (.jpegs of at least 300 dpi at 5×7). Note that the size limit for each attached photo is 1MB. (Exceeding this limit may cause the form to lock up – if that happens simply refresh the page.) For best results, photograph your projects against a neutral background (a light-colored sheet or a plain, painted wall, for example) with adequate lighting. While furniture pieces may be “propped” appropriately, do not clutter the shot – the goal is to show off your work in its best light. In addition to overall shots, you may wish to provide a detail shot of areas that best represent your woodworking skill and design. Note that if you cannot supply digital images (preferred), professional slides are acceptable; download the PDF entry form at the bottom of this page, fill it out, and mail it along with your slides to Megan Fitzpatrick, c/o Popular Woodworking, Suite 100, 8469 Blue Ash Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236.
The deadline for entries is June 20, 2014. Judging will take place on or around June 23, 2014, with the Readers’ Favorite determined by number of votes ending June 30, 2014 (voting will open on June 23).
After you’ve uploaded your initial, main photo to the voting page, then fill out this form for the judges.
